CONGRATULATIONS!
"You've taken the first step toward earning income as a
Freelance Transcriber or Small Business Owner!"

The process:  listen to audio, type what you hear,
create end product, put money in your pocket!

Dear Friend,

Have you ever wondered how great it would be to work from your home?  Admittedly, it's not for everyone, but does making the best cup of coffee in your own kitchen and walking ten feet to your office in your stocking feet sound good to you?  As you read on, I'll tell you more about how this might be a good solution for you both in time and money.

Perhaps you're looking for something to fill the time in between kids or classes for extra cash, have the summer off but would still like to bring in money, or just looking for a second income.

Maybe you have a hefty commuting budget with more money being transferred to the gas tank and are seeking an alternative solution.

There may be days when you'd rather go to work late because little Johnny was sick last night, or take the day off to lounge in the summer sun, go leaf-peeping in the fall, attend a class, take the kids on a field trip or just have some time to yourself.  You may want to take the family camping last minute or extend a planned vacation because you're having so much fun.

What if WE dictated our income by our own personal drive and ambition?

Back in the day I too, worked in corporate America.  From bartending to construction to admin positions, I felt suffocated and something inside was dying to get out.  I couldn’t explain it, I had no one to talk to about it and certainly wasn’t aware of any mentors available to help find the inner me I longed for.

At 21 I found myself a widowed, single mother, working three jobs to make ends meet, trying to provide a good moral base and instill values into my 18 month old child.  I worked hard and was frustrated that I couldn’t put my finger on what I wanted to make our future better.

Many years later I decided to take some baby steps, making plans and setting goals, and then it hit me.  After performing these same projects for someone else and half the pay, I was compelled to take it to a whole new level.

Surprise, Success Transcripts was born.  Starting out with four clients it slowly and steadily evolved into the success it’s become today.

I then found my friend Debi Davis and together we developed Train The Transcriber.  With this course we can help you build a better future for you, your friends, family members, and even co-workers.

Don’t let the corporate world drag you down, minimize your goals or steal your dreams.  Take the leap, make the move and start today to build your future.  The benefits are amazing.  Oh, did we mention that location was irrelevant?

Take a chance!  What have you got to lose?  We’re not saying you have to quit your job immediately - take baby steps…purchase the course, absorb the information, start getting your ducks in a row and then, and only then, step out and acknowledge the real you; you won’t regret it!

Listen to the interview.  Make sure you have a pen and notepad handy to take notes, so you don’t miss anything.  It’s our wish for you to succeed and we’ll do what we can to make your dreams a reality.  Join us, all it takes is a click of the button and you’re on your way.

The fact is, this is NOT a medical transcription course; this is a general business transcription course that will show you how to transcribe in industries outside of the medical realm.

Though this course was designed for general business transcription, it's a great foundational program and can be used as a stepping stone toward a career in the medical transcription field.  If this is your plan you'll need to pursue additional instruction aside from this course that prepares you for the medical field.

This is a great course for those who want to learn the craft quickly and easily without breaking the bank or having to go to classes.  Only TWO skill sets are required: a GOOD command of the English language and a GOOD typing speed (at least 65 wpm).  Of course, good listening is key to creating a great end product.

Are you ready for a change in lifestyle?

As a general transcriber, I no longer have to dress for the office, warm up the car, drive to work with the masses, run to coffee shop, catch the elevator and get to my office by a certain time.

I no longer have to do work that will benefit someone else just for the luxury of collecting a paycheck.  I can work on my own terms and collect a paycheck and save money at the same time by eliminating costs associated with traveling to a traditional office.

I no longer have to go to lunch or leave when I'm told.  There is no rushing to get food within a designated time frame.

No more driving home with the masses only to return to a cold, empty house where I'd then prepare and clean up dinner, read mail, chat with family, feed/walk the dog and hope there is time to do something I enjoy, all before bed.

Just what do I save by working from home as a general transcriber?  The following numbers are the result of my math.

 1. The drycleaner bill is drastically minimized.  I used to spend an average of $30/month at the drycleaner and now it's more like $100 a year.

($30 X 12 = $360 - $100 = $260)  I save $260 a year in dry cleaning by working from home! What else do I save?

 2. Gas has gone down from it's insane pricing last year, but it keeps fluctuating and at the time of this writing it's still well above $2/gallon.  My SUV would drink an entire tank of gas just to drive to and from work and that translates to about $35 a week at present prices.

Any extra driving for activities, friends or family is over and above that and would normally be another $25 for a total of up to $60 a week.  By working from home I save that $35 a week going to and from work so now I'm looking at about $25/week for gas.

($35 X 50 weeks = $1750)  I save $1750 a year in gas!  What else do I save?

 3. I'm also saving in fluids and general car repairs because I'm using the vehicle less often.  My repair bills were about $500 a year and I needed to replace washer fluid every three months.

Since I've been working from home, my repair bills are down to $275 a year and I only add washer fluid about twice a year now.

($500 - $275 = $225)  I save $225 a year in general repair and upkeep of my vehicle!  What else do I save?

 4. Tolls.  I used to pay $1.50 a day ($,75 each way) to get to and from work.  That's $7.50 a week, for 50 weeks a year.  Now I pay maybe $10 a year in toll travel.

($7.50 X 50 = $375.  $375 - $10 = $365)  I save $365 in tolls by working from home!  What else do I save?

 5. Time.  What about the time it takes me to get to and from work every day?  This is time I'm not spending being productive, enjoying family or playing with the dog. I spent two hours behind the wheel every day getting to and from work.

(2 X 5 = 10 X 50 = 500)  I reclaim 500 driving hours a year by working from home.  That's time I can now assign to extra rest, talking with my kids, spending time with my husband or earning money.   So, let's do some math.

If I only devote half of those extra hours a year (250) to earning money, at my average audio hour rate of $75, and considering an average of four hours per audio hour to transcribe and proof, it turns out to be 62 actual extra audio hours a year, and that brings in another $4650 in additional annual revenue for me!

(250 / 4 = 62 X $75 = $4650) I gain $4650 a year in additional income because I have more time to devote to earning money!

If you're just starting out, the average audio hour rate may be closer to around $25 and it may take you an average of five hours to transcribe and proof as a newbie, so you'll have more like 50 actual audio hours a year. You're still looking at an extra $1250 in additional annual revenue.

(50 X $25 = $1250).  Imagine that this could be the least amount of money you'll make in this field and it won't take long to get this number even higher.  Would this pay your winter heating bills?

More math! 250 hours a year is less than five hours a week.  Do you see how this could be a great part time starter, and once accomplished, you may just want to quit your day job and do what we do, full time and from home?

So what's the total?  If we add up the total annual savings on my past dry cleaning, gas, vehicle repair and tolls, I've saved myself an annual total of $2600.  At the same time, I've gained more earning hours for an extra $4650 to my income!

This is $7250 a year that, in my opinion, just went out the window when I worked in the corporate world!

But don't take my word for it...tally up your numbers and see what you come up with.  Yours will surely be different than mine, but this is a good chunk of money that now, is either staying in my pocket or I don't even need to earn!

How do we measure the stress factor?  I mean, what about the stressful traffic, construction or accident detours we all encounter to and from our job?  What is this worth?  What toll does it take on us physically and mentally?

Many days I would arrive to work already stressed out and have to get myself together.  The only stress I experience now is trying to slow down a fast talker on my foot pedal.

Train The Transcriber currently sells for $97.  You could easily earn that amount back by simply transcribing four audio hours of content if your rate starts at $25/audio hour.

At that point, you have essentially received the course for FREE!   The initial investment is back in your wallet and now you're earning money for yourself!

This skill is one you will use whenever and wherever you want for the rest of your life.  Keep it as a sideline or start your own business; it's flexible enough to adapt to your lifestyle.

Isn't that what we want: a life where the work we do
enhances our lifestyle instead of dictating it?

Listen to Debi Davis

I was once a corporate world slave, doing that 8-5 thing, barely breathing in a workplace culture that was a breeding ground of fear and power plays that made no sense.

Then it hit me; why stay?  After more than 20 years of this frustration I decided to take action and find other options.

In January of 1998 the Internet was flourishing, so I chose to go out on my own and have never looked back.  I learned how to build websites and on the side I did general business transcription as it became available.

I worked strictly by word of mouth and got each client one by one.  I then hooked up with my friend Janette at Success Transcripts who was doing the same thing.

We've been doing this work successfully ever since and due to the popularity of this service we sought assistance.  After working with countless transcribers online and seeing the poor quality of work they produced, if any work at all, we knew immediately that there was a need for this education in the marketplace.

There is a huge market out there for this service but the talent pool is somewhat lacking.  Thus, Train The Transcriber was born to show you how to be a great transcriber.

It is our belief that this course will help change the direction of your life and give you more freedom over your time while serving some very interesting clientele.  It has changed our lives for the better and we'd like to share the opportunity with you.

Be sure to listen to our interview; it has some great information about the course.

We chose this price point so everyone would have a shot at home-based business success, so we hope you'll purchase it today.  We know you'll be glad you did!

FAQs

Janette and I have received several questions regarding this course so we've shared them with you here.

1. Is there a big demand for general transcription?

A. There is always a need for general transcription, we just don't always know where to look for the work.  In the information marketing world alone the demand is huge but there are other lucrative areas as well.

For instance, real estate, design, self-improvement, publishing, speaking, writing, documentaries as well as any learning for which one would attend a seminar or teleseminar in subjects of either a technical, social, medical nature or otherwise.

2. Will I be ready to transcribe once I go through the course?

A. Candidates are ready to begin in the field of general transcription once they get through the course.  The only two skills that are needed are a good typing speed of at least 65 wpm and a good command of the English language.

The course includes everything you need to know about where and how to get started.

3. Is all of the included recorded material for practice?

A. Not all of them are provided for that purpose but you could certainly transcribe them all if you wanted to.  Many are for the benefit of mindset one should have when making the transition from employee to freelancer.

They're included for the purpose of exploring possibilities of what others have done and what's out there for everyone.  They're classics and they're still best sellers today.

This material changed our lives.  It helped us move in the direction that we're in now so we naturally wanted to include it for others to enjoy.

Questions 4 and 5 are together.

4. How up to date is this information?

5. Do you add updates?

A. We wrote this course in 2008 and it's only been available since October.  We will add updates as it becomes necessary to do so.

6. Does the program go in steps as to what you should go over or do first or is it just a bunch of information?

A. The course tells you what it means to be a professional, what to do, what you need, how to get started, where to find work, how to find clients, how to care for clients, how to set up a business, how to be a freelancer, how to do this job and be excellent at it.

It's very comprehensive and easy to follow.  We wanted to present the big picture with detail and we did.  It's a great course, straight forward and complete.

7. I'm considering your course from a freelance perspective.  From your experience, how difficult is it to generate $1,000 plus per month as a freelancer?

A. It depends on the rates you're charging and the amount of work you have.

For instance, if you have some of your own clients and charge $50/audio hour, you'd need to transcribe 20 hours of audio per month to reach this mark.

If you can type 80 wpm it compares to 80 real time hours during the month.  This means 16 days during that month doing one hour of audio and it can take four or five hours to transcribe and proof.

If you're just starting out at a beginner rate of $25/audio hour through a transcription company, you'd need to transcribe 40 hours of audio over the course of the month.  This means 200 real time hours or 20 days during that month doing two hours of audio.

Time is money in this field.  Everything depends on your typing speed.  If you can type 90 wpm, you should be able to transcribe and proof one audio hour in about three to four real time hours.  If you're closer to 60 wpm, you can expect that to increase to five or six hours.

If you type less than this I do not suggest that you go into this field unless you build your typing speed.  Many eager people are out there with a speed of 30-40 wpm and at this rate, they'll only earn a few dollars an hour when you break it down.  It's not worth the effort required, nor will it generally meet the client's deadline.

The ideal situation is to have work from several sources at varying rates, some coming from your own clients and some coming from a few transcription companies.

It's not difficult to generate $1,000 a month as a freelancer.  In the beginning, what's difficult is adequately scheduling your time to actually perform the work.

8.  How much start up time should I allow?

A. A general time frame is to consider is six months to a year for "start up time" or to reach your goal.  However this will vary depending on the time you have available for this endeavor, your skillset and determination to succeed.  It's up to you to decide how much work you'll look for and produce.

Here's what matters: You must meet the client's deadline and the end product must be great.  If you take longer to get to this level, so be it.  The goal you set for yourself will be what you're aiming for.

If you have a strong skillset and truly seek to work from home it should motivate you to look for work everywhere, both on and offline, and our course outlines where to look.

9. How competitive is the marketplace?

A. The marketplace is competitive in that you have a global talent pool now, but there is plenty of work.

For instance, over the last five or so years, I've only had a total of about six months of time where I had no work.  There are just too many fields out there that use transcription so if you have no work, it might be that you're just not looking in the right places.

10. What are the start up costs for a freelance transcriber?

A. The beauty of this field is that the start up is low.  We assume that you have a good and recent computer with several gig of hard disk space and RAM.

Rough start up costs include the purchase of a foot pedal.  This can run anywhere from $75 - $120.

Other necessities are a headset or ear buds.  You can get those for $15 or $20 to start but we suggest you invest a little more money in a good stereo audio solution when you are bringing in some money.

We assume you have a high speed internet connection.  It is absolutely mandatory to have one.  NO DIAL UP.  It just isn't going to work for you.

You need a telephone and some free software that you can get online and that's it.  Most of what you bring to the table is your skillset.

11. Are you registered w the Better Business Bureau?

A. Yes.  We have registered with the Better Business Bureau as of December 28, 2008.

Those are the top questions we've received from our clients.  The feedback we've received is fantastic with many people telling us that they've been looking for some kind of a course like this but have not found it.  We know, because we sought for one ourselves to offer our new hires.  When we couldn't find one, we knew it was something we had to write ourselves.

We truly believe that this is a good way to earn income from home or we wouldn't be doing it.

Hello Debi and Janette!

Thanks for sending the link for the download of TTT.  I just spent the morning and 1/2 the afternoon downloading all the components and then printing out the e-book.   As the pages spewed out of the printer I skimmed various paragraphs and must say that it looks like you have done a phenomenal job of outlining all the important factors in offering the service of transcription for non-medical purposes.

I really appreciate the aesthetic format of the manuscript as well as the coverage of the many different aspects of the business--even the reminders to take breaks and get out of the work space!

I will be digesting and applying the information, step by step, in the coming couple of months.  Big appreciation for your efforts and for sharing your knowledge with us SO reasonably!!!
